All Customers & any Witnesses must consent to have their identification information and signature recorded into the notary's official notarial acts journal. This is a legal state requirement. The notary's journal is kept in a secure and locked location when not in the notary's immediate possession.
Can the California Notary Public provide documents or forms for my situation and/or advise on legal matters?
No, the California Notary Public is prohibited by law to provide the signers with documents, forms or any other materials. The client must bring the documents or forms to the appointment and forms cannot contain blank spaces where information is required to be filled in (if applicable). Documents/Forms should be brought to the appointment unsigned as the signer must sign in the notary's presence. Documents must be legible and the language must be in English. The California Notary is allowed to provide an Acknowledgment or Jurat Certificate page, however the certificate type must be selected by the customer.
California Notary Public is not allowed to provide any legal advice, opinions on legal matters or answer any questions considered to be of a legal nature. The Notary Public is not an attorney and cannot act in any capacity that could be considered legal advice or unauthorized practice of law. Customers are kindly advised to consult with a licensed attorney for any legal advice.
What is the expected costs and fees to have the notary travel to me for the appointment?
The California Notary Public travels to you for your convenience. We can meet you in a public location such as a coffee shop, public library, place of business, or curbside at your home. We also travel to skilled nursing facilities, retirement homes, courthouses and healthcare facilities including hospitals (these type of locations require a surcharge due to time and often times parking fees incurred). If you have a special situation regarding location, please advise the notary upon contact.
The notarization fee is established by the California Secretary of State and it is $15.00 per notarized signature. This means one single person's signature on a single document. California law does not establish the costs of travel fees, meaning the notary public advises you of the travel fee before all travel is commenced. Clients must agree to the total fees before the appointment is confirmed. We operate in Zones, since San Diego County is vary large & traffic can vary. Zone 1 is the most economical choice which is 10 mile distance from Camino Del Norte and I-15 Freeway. Zone 1 Travel fee is $35. Zone fees increase according to distance. The notary public will provide you with an accurate quote upon contact. Due to cost savings the notary will advise you if they feel it would be more economical for you to seek a notary closer to your area. There are no surprises involved as you will know in advance of the total cost for your appointment as we seek to be transparent and honorable!
Please note that the travel fee is due and payable even if the notarization cannot be performed due to issues that legally prevent that Notary from performing the requested notarization. State law prevents fees for the signature notarization if the notarization does not occur. However, we will honor a discount on a single future travel fee if issues are remedied and you chose to have us perform the notarization at a future appointment.
